Norlien Foundation's research and experiences have led to the creation of the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative. The Initiative uses a neuroscience-based framework around childhood development and addiction from which actions can be planned. The framework is structured around two core concepts:
- the importance of nurturing environments for healthy brain development; and
- establishing a comprehensive, integrated and accessible continuum of effective addiction services.
These concepts have led to the development of the Foundation's two primary programme areas, the Early Childhood Development Programme and the Addiction Programme.
